...the crossover of self-taught, outsider, and vernacular art into the contemporary and modern mainstream.
-
In February 2020 we made the decision to move our gallery from the space we had occupied for more than 20 years to a considerably larger space on the same floor. A larger gallery space affords us the luxury of bringing all of our inventory (which was previously kept in an art storage facility in Brooklyn) onsite and available for viewing at any given moment.
It also gives us double the amount of wall space, so we’ll have the ability to present exhibitions, as we always have, and launch a “Gallery Two,” showcasing an ever-changing salon that will reflect a broader spectrum of what we’ve been doing for close to 40 years. That is: the crossover of self-taught, outsider, and vernacular art into the contemporary and modern mainstream.

Vernacular Loft
The loft, residence of Frank Maresca, serves as a private adjunct gallery showcasing select works outside of the formal Ricco/Maresca space. The loft is a meticulously curated environment that changes on a regular basis and embodies the gallery’s ongoing mission to promote crossover of Outsider, Self-Taught, and Vernacular art into the modern and contemporary art arenas.
The Vernacular Loft is open by appointment.
